What is NECA?
The Oregon-Columbia Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) was established in 1911 and has represented union electrical contractors in Oregon and Southwest Washington for more than a century. Our chapter is dedicated to supporting contractors through resources in safety and health, labor relations, advocacy, education and training, and business development.
In partnership with the skilled electricians of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 48, we are committed to leading the region’s electrical industry into the future. Together, we work to ensure that contractors have the support they need to deliver quality, innovation, and reliability on every project.
Founded in 1901, the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) based in Washington, DC serves as the leading voice for the electrical contracting industry across the United States. As one of 119 chapters nationwide, the Oregon-Columbia Chapter connects local contractors to a national network that strengthens and advances the entire industry.
Our members count on us to provide the tools and resources that help them make informed business decisions, deliver excellent customer service, and adapt to new and emerging technologies.
NECA and the Electrical Contracting Industry
The U.S. electrical contracting industry is made up of more than 70,000 firms employing over 500,000 electrical workers. NECA contractors are involved in every aspect of electrical construction, from small-scale projects to major infrastructure work.
While many member firms qualify as small businesses, NECA also includes large, multi-area contractors. This diverse membership ensures that NECA represents the full scope of the industry.
NECA contractors set the standard for traditional and integrated electrical systems and lead the industry in the practical application of new technologies. They offer their clients superior performance and are committed to delivering quality results.
Our contractors are experts at the top of their field. They know the latest technology, take the time to understand each client’s unique needs, and develop innovative solutions to meet them. With the most highly trained and reliable workforce in the industry, NECA contractors ensure that every job is done right the first time, on time, and with minimal disruption.
